The Adirondack Watershed Institute at Paul Smith's College is offering training for boat stewards working this summer in the Speculator Piseco area as described in the following note. If you are interested in this summer job or know anyone who might be, please contact the AWI , the Piseco Lake Association or the Lake Pleasant Sacandaga Association. LPSA can provide training as well. Please note that the criteria for application is much broader than stated in the link, for example, a college background is not required nor is experience.

There is training here on the Paul Smiths College campus M-Th next week, but for anyone who can't attend the training we can provide on-the-job and other alternative training. PSC will provide dorm rooms for any new hires who are able to attend training next week. The boat wash unit training will not occur until after Memorial Day.
Please have any interested candidates or anyone who has housing options down that way get in touch with me. The current vacancies we have can be absorbed Memorial Day weekend because of the boat wash stations that aren't online yet, so we will have plenty of boat launch stewards out there for the start of the season. Please note that the DEC funded positions are full-time through Labor Day and then Friday - Sunday until Columbus Day.
Thanks for all your assistance! The AWI has been looking for funding in your area for watershed stewards for many years now, so this is very exciting. -Kathleen
